The 2019 season of the IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour kicked off with Tolly Amateur Open

The 2019 season of the IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour began it's journey with Tolly Amateur Open at the Tollygunge Golf Club on 7th February 2019. This state of the art tour which started last year is going to revolve around major cities of eastern India ie. Assam, Patna, Shillong, Jamshedpur, Golmuri and of course Kolkata. In this year’s Tolly Amateur all eyes were on Karan Verma as he was the one who is defending the amateur title.


The first round saw some really low scores with Sudipta Das being the lowest scorer of the day as he posted an even-par 70 in Amateur category. Another exciting talent Samridh Sen signed for a one over 71. Last year’s winner Karan Verma is in the bubble as well as he shot a 3 over 73 after the 1st round. With the scores being close to each other, an exciting final round of golf is in sight for us.


Last year’s super-senior order of merit winner Sanjay Sanwal showed his class today as he is leading his respective age category by a mammoth 16 shots and placed his one hand on the title. Sumit Prakash and Siddhartha Bansal both posted a round of 83 to be in the tied for 1st position in Mid-Amateur category. From Ladies division star performer and young prodigy Sinjini Mukherjee lived up to the expectation thanks to her stellar first round score of 76, Geetika Ahuja remained 2 shots ahead with a 78.

Kolkata juniors were given a chance to compete with the season golfers in this year’s Tolly Amateur Open and they didn’t disappoint as Prashant Agarwal played a fantastic round of golf as he returned with an 83 which is five shots clear to his nearest competitor Ansh Arya. From Category E Juniors Aranyak Chakraborty claimed the first round lead with a round of 52 (9 holes).



There are 7 categories in this event of the tour ie. Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Senior, Super-Senior, Junior, Junior category E (for 9 holes) and Ladies. There will be 12 tournaments at stake for golfers to make their mark in the Indian golfing arena.
