After the first day of action at LIV Golf Singapore, Sebastian Munoz of Torque GC emerged as the frontrunner, edging ahead by a single stroke. Enduring the sweltering heat and challenging conditions at Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong course, Munoz fired an impressive 6-under-par 65 on Friday, establishing a narrow lead over a closely trailing pack.

Hot on his heels are six contenders, including Smash captain and 2023 PGA Championship victor Brooks Koepka, Cleeks GC captain Martin Kaymer, Iron Heads GC captain Kevin Na, Thomas Pieters of the RangeGoats, Cameron Tringale representing the HyFlyers, and Abraham Ancer from Fireballs GC. Notably, Joaquin Niemann, Munoz’s captain and current individual points leader, sits among a group of eight players tied at 4-under 67.

In the team competition, Smash GC and Fireballs GC find themselves neck and neck at 11-under totals, with Cleeks GC, the RangeGoats, and Stinger GC sharing third place. With merely three strokes separating the top eight teams, anticipation mounts for a tightly contested battle on Sunday.

However, the league-leading Crushers GC experienced a disappointing start, languishing in last place alongside Majesticks GC with a total of 1 under. Despite efforts from Paul Casey, who carded a 2-under 69, and Anirban Lahiri, posting a 70, the team struggled as skipper Bryson DeChambeau and Charles Howell III returned scores of 73 and 76, respectively.

Lahiri’s round featured five birdies but was marred by four dropped shots, leaving him tied for 29th place, while Casey found himself in a tie for 22nd alongside Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, and four others.
