Golfer’s elbow or medial epicondylitis usually means a condition when you feel tremendous pain when the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to the bony bump on the inside of your elbow. Apparently, when the same thing happens to the outside of the elbow, it is called Tennis Elbow. Any repetitive hand, wrist, or forearm motions can lead to golfer’s elbow. Sometimes the pain spreads over forehand and wrist also. Athletes who repeatedly use their wrist either in practising or playing their games often suffer from this condition where your elbows go through stiffness, tenderness and weakness all over the hand. The pain might worsen with certain movements, such as swinging on a golf club.

There are some ways by which you can prevent having Golfer’s elbow. These are:-

  • While doing lifting exercise including free weights, keep your wrist rigid and stable to reduce the force to your elbow.
  • Walk for a few minutes before starting your routine work out or do stretching.
  • Don’t force your elbow to work beyond their limits. Take a break between your workouts. This will help to relax your muscles.

Golfer’s elbow can be diagnosed based on your medical history or x-ray. Doctors initially advise avoiding activities that cause elbows pain and then prescribe necessary medicines when needed. These following steps can be maintained to get rid of elbows pain:-

  • Apply ice to the affected area when needed.
  • Hold on your activities until your pain goes away.
  • Wear a counterforce brace on your affected arm, which might reduce muscle strain.
  • Consult your doctor whenever you feel the pain unbearable.
