Chandigarh, March 21, 2024: The AVT Senior Tour 2023-2024 concluded with a thrilling finale at the Chandigarh Golf Club, witnessing local golfer Sandeep “Bobby” Sandhu’s outstanding performance, as he shot a brilliant 70 to secure victory over overnight leader Jit Singh. With a record entry of 105 players from across India, the tournament showcased exceptional talent and fierce competition.

Sandeep “Bobby” Sandhu emerged as the overall champion for the Senior Tour 2023-2024, displaying remarkable composure throughout the event. His stellar performance not only captivated the audience but also underscored his prowess on the course. In a ceremony honoring excellence, Mr. Vikramjit Singh was recognized by the AVT Tour for his outstanding contributions to the sport. A five-time winner of the All India Amateur Tour, Mr. Singh’s lifetime achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring golfers nationwide.

The tournament featured multiple age categories, each fiercely contested until the final few holes. Participants from cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Chandigarh showcased their talent and determination on the prestigious course.

In the team events, Team Nett Winner, comprising Swarndeep S Batth, Brig Harvinder Dhillon, Tajinder S Grewal, and Gopi Singh, clinched victory with a score of 418, while Team Nett Runner-Up, consisting of Col GC Sharma, Brig. Kishore Malhotra, Nippy Bains, and Jit Singh, secured the second position with a score of 425.

In the individual categories, Manav Prakash emerged victorious in the H’Cap 0-9 division with 146 points, closely followed by Tjindeer Singh Grewal with 141 points. In the H’Cap 10-18 division, Azad Singh Ruhail claimed victory with 135 points, while Capt Jasbir Singh secured the runner-up position with 139 points.

Furthermore, the team gross winners were Sandeep S Sandhu, Jaspreet Bakshi, Bhupinder S Mundh, and Kuldip S Sandhu, with a total of 445 points, while the team gross runners-up were Ashish Kapoor, Rahul Agarwal, and Gangesh Khaitan, totaling 463 points.

In the ladies’ category, Paromita Mukherjee emerged as the winner with 162 points, closely followed by Sanjoli Singh as the runner-up with the same score.

The AVT Senior Tour 2024 provided an exhilarating display of golfing talent and sportsmanship, setting the stage for the upcoming season. The anticipation now builds for the first event of the 2024-2025 season, scheduled to take place at the KGA in Bangalore, promising another exciting chapter in the world of senior golf.
